6/22/2023 0 Comments The ithaca 1911![]() ![]() If they knew what an original Ithaca is selling for now they would cringe like I did when I saw this. ![]() Shame on the person that did the nickel plating. Of course, if the seller were to produce authentic documentation from Ithaca, I'll happily eat my words. And then, when the thief figured it was safe, he took it to a plating shop and had that bumper chrome job done on it. But if so, why no "suitable engraving" to commerate the presentation? And why would they put standard GI plastic stocks on it? I think the piece would be far more plausible as a "lunch box special," smuggled out of the plant, maybe a piece at a time. We're expected to believe that Ithaca did a one-off nickel plated version? Well, I guess it COULD have happened, for some visiting dignitary or a company higher-up. "Pistol is original POLISHED NICKEL and appears to be all original.", The seller is looking for some sheep to fleece!!! What an idiot!!! It's a shame that a genuine Ithaca produced M1911A1 had to suffer such a fate as being nickel plated. If the nickel was done well enough to pass for factory, then it can be stripped and the pistol re-parkerized almost perfectly.
